Global reinsurance giant Munich Re announced that Leonie Schubert has stepped into the role of Global Head of Capital Partners from March 1st, which sees her leading the division of the company where capital market solutions and investor partnerships are managed.

leonie-schubert-munich-re-capital-partnersThe Capital Partners unit at Munich Re was established to bring together clients needs beyond traditional insurance and reinsurance risk transfer solutions, bundling together structured prospective, retroactive and capital market based reinsurance offerings under one business and team.

Capital Partners also encompasses Munich Re’s activities in the insurance-linked securities (ILS) market, including in structuring deals such as catastrophe bonds, sidecars, ILW’s, risk swaps and derivatives, assisting investors in the space, and even in the past as an active buyer and investor itself.

Today, Munich Re stated, “We are pleased to announce that Leonie Schubert will assume the role as Global Head of Capital Partners as of 1 March 2026.

“From March to June 2026, Leonie will co-lead the Capital Partners unit together with August Proebstl ahead of his retirement. This joint leadership period ensures continuity, leverages complementary experience, and supports a seamless transition for our teams and business partners.”

The global reinsurance firm further explained, “Leonie brings a strong strategic mindset, deep market expertise, and a clear focus on long term value creation. Together with the Capital Partners leadership team, she will continue to advance the strategic development of the unit and further strengthen our position in the international investment and capital markets landscape.

“We thank all colleagues who have supported this transition and look forward to shaping the future of Munich Re Capital Partners together.”

Schubert brings a long tenure at Munich Re, having joined the reinsurer back in 2006 as a graduate trainee.

She worked her way up through the organisation in largely property treaty reinsurance underwriting focused roles, eventually becoming a senior executive and recently the Head of Department for Property Treaty Underwriting across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands and Nordics.
