Howden Hires Thomas to Lead Trucking Specialty Practice; Cottle to Head Clyde & Co Regulatory and Investigations

Howden, the global insurance broker, hired Patrick Thomas as Howden U.S. managing director within the company’s trucking specialty vertical. Thomas leads Howden’s U.S. trucking strategy, overseeing the continued build-out of a dedicated, nationwide trucking practice serving motor carriers, owner-operators, fleets and logistics providers.

Thomas joins Howden with over 18 years of experience in the trucking and transportation sector. He is recognized for his hands-on industry knowledge, strong carrier and client relationships, and ability to structure insurance programs for businesses of all sizes. As a member of Howden’s senior U.S. leadership team, Thomas will play a key role in advancing Howden’s growth strategy and expanding its capabilities in one of the most critical segments of the U.S. economy.

Clyde & Co Launches Regulatory & Investigations Capability in the Americas

Clyde & Co today appointed Jeff Cottle as Head of Regulatory & Investigations, White-Collar Crime and Sanctions, Americas, and Co-Head of White-Collar Crime and Sanctions, EMEA, marking the launch of a dedicated Regulatory & Investigations (R&I) capability in the Americas.

Cottle joins Clyde & Co from Eversheds Sutherland, where he was co-head of the National Security Practice and Global Co-Head of the Industrials Sector. He will be based in Clyde & Co’s Washington, D.C. office and will work closely with its global network of offices.

A highly regarded specialist in sanctions and export controls compliance, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering and investigations, Cottle’s practice spans multiple sectors including infrastructure, insurance, trading, energy, financial services, aviation and maritime, and he has advised some of the world’s largest corporations on complex, cross-border matters in high-risk jurisdictions, including those involving US and international authorities.

Cottle is a dual citizen of the US and UK, is qualified in both jurisdictions, and has over thirty years of experience as a lawyer, including a decade in senior in-house roles at global companies in the US and the UK. He is a retired Commander in the US Navy, having served as a decorated US Naval Intelligence Officer in operations around the globe.
