Euler ILS Partners, the specialist Swiss insurance-linked securities (ILS) investment manager, has appointed former senior Swiss Re executive and ILS specialist Martin Bisping to become the new Chairman of its Board of Directors.
In his career, Bisping had a reinsurance, insurance-linked securities (ILS) and global capital markets focus, both on the risk transformation, hedging and structuring sides, as well as in ILS investment management.
Bisping’s career at Swiss Re began in the 1990’s gaining expertise as a natural catastrophe reinsurance specialist, then becoming head of the Atmospheric Perils Group in 1999, before transferring to the Financial Services Business Group in 2001.
He held the role of Head of Non-Life Risk Transformation from 2004, where he led retrocession and risk syndication activity at the company, responsible for strategic group P&C protections, including reinsurance sidecars, insurance-linked securities (ILS), catastrophe bonds and other hedging instruments, while also having a senior leadership role in Swiss Re’s Capital Markets team.
Bisping then became Chief Executive Officer of Swiss Re Insurance-Linked Investment Management Ltd. (SRILIM), a dedicated ILS investment management unit of the reinsurer, before later becoming Co-Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer as a succession planning process was put into action, then stepping into the Chief Risk Officer role in 2025 prior to his retirement earlier this year.
Bisping brings Euler ILS Partners deep expertise from his distinguished career as a key player in the development and growth of the insurance-linked securities market, with a background that combines underwriting and institutional-grade investment governance, as well as year’s of interacting with institutional allocators and investors in ILS.
“Martin’s deep experience across reinsurance, capital markets and insurance-linked strategies will be highly valuable to Euler as we continue to develop our platform. We are very pleased to welcome him to the Board and look forward to working together in this next phase of growth,” Euler ILS Partners stated.
Bisping succeeds Donato Cianciaruso as Chairman of the Euler ILS Partners Board, who has stepped down from the
role after a number of year’s working with the team.
The company said, “We would like to express our sincere thanks to Donato for his contribution and commitment to the firm over the years.”
