The Georgia Insurance Commissioner’s office is offering a reward of as much as $10,000 for information leading to the culprit behind a vehicle fire, one of several suspicious fires in Cedartown in recent months.

After local firefighters subdued the vehicle blaze on May 22, the state Fire Marshal investigators determined the fire had been deliberately set, Commissioner John King’s office said in a bulletin. The gasoline and the battery had been removed from the vehicle before the incident.

It may be the latest arson in the same area in the last eight months, including a camper fire, an outbuilding and non-residential structure fire, the office noted.

“We are asking for the public’s help to identify whoever is responsible for this fire,” King said in a statement. “A reward of up to $10,000 is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved. Callers may remain anonymous.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Georgia Arson Control Hotline at 1‑800‑282‑5804.
