Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost last week filed a lawsuit against a contractor accused of soliciting Northeast Ohio residents for new roofs and siding replacement, only to ghost customers after accepting over $188,000 in payments.

The lawsuit, filed on March 5 in Cuyahoga County, alleges that defendants Renato Perez and Andre Kinduelo of Virginia-based CMN Group descended on Northeast Ohio in August 2024 after the region was hit by powerful storms. The defendants offered exterior home-repair services in storm-damaged areas and promised they would work with the consumers’ insurance companies to obtain a new roof and/or siding as an insurance claim.

Perez and Kinduelo accepted payments for repair work but failed to deliver services in a timely manner, the lawsuit states. In some cases the defendants performed no work under the contracts for which consumers had paid them, while in other instances they started repairs but later abandoned the worksite, according to the lawsuit.

“These so-called ‘businesses’ aren’t here to help,” Yost said. “They’re here to make a quick buck – and certainly not an honest one.”

The Ohio Attorney General’s Office has 24 unresolved complaints against CMN with alleged losses totaling $188,000. The lawsuit seeks restitution for the affected consumers who did not receive any contracted work, civil penalties and a court order barring the defendants from engaging in consumer transactions until all monetary obligations are satisfied.

The lawsuit can be found here.
